Fresh Start

5……4……3……2….1……HAPPY NEW YEAR’S!!!!!!! YEAH!!!! Whoa Who!!!!

New Year’s is approaching us soon. Its literally just a few days away. I love the New Year because it allows for us to make a new fresh start. It allows for us to make change in our life. For those that go to the gym regular, its a time we grow to hate because so many people decided that they want to loose weight or get their life to healthier start. New Year’s is a time where we make a goal for 365 days in hope of keeping it. It always seems that we get going to good start then come March, we have begun to forget it happened and come December we forgot we decided to make a new life style for us. It seems that when we make a New Year’s resolution that are only for the state that we are in. It seems we never take the time to make a spiritual change in us. We fail to see the aspect that matters the most. For the year of 2013, I made the goal of becoming more spiritual and growing closer to my Heavenly Father. I can say that I was successful in do so as I accepted my mission call on Jan 5th in which I found out that I would be going the Florida Jacksonville Mission on March 6th. What a ride this past year has been. How amazing it has been for me to grow closer to my Lord and Savior. Making this change, was hard at first, but the great thing about change is that in three weeks, it becomes a life style. With the New Year approaching, I have made the choice to dedicate myself to the Lord more. I will be making myself grow more spiritually by allotting time to pray multiple times in the day and studying the scriptures more too.  The quest for the year 2014, for me, is to find how I can serve my Heavenly Father better. How I can be more of aid for him in his work. I have made the choice to help my spirituality grow deeper in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we go about making change in the year 2014, ask yourself, how will I grow more closer to my Lord and Savior? Are you willing to grow closer to him?

Our Greatest Title

On this earth, we have many callings and responsibilities to full fill. We take on many roles in this life: Runner, worker, boss, teacher, caregiver, and etc. There are many of these titles that make and shape into who we are. However, out of all the titles that we have, the greatest that we can take on is the title of Father, Mother, Husband, and Wife. The family is the greatest thing that we can have in this life. When we take on the responsibility of having children, we are allowing our selves to responsibility for one of our Heavenly Father’s child. It is a huge responsibility that we have that is sadly being taken lightly right now.  We are seeing that family values are being lost and families are not being together any more. That is why a family rooted into the Gospel of Jesus Christ is so vital. It is important that fathers and mothers take the time to teach their children the importance of the gospel and have that eternal perspective. One of the things that I love the most about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is our importance of families and the fact that families can be together forever. In the temple, we can be sealed for all time and eternity to our family. The family is the greatest gift that our Heavenly Father has given us and we can’t take the responsibility too lightly. Recently, Heavenly Father has been teaching me the importance of having a family. I have never been one to want to have one but I see that on an eternal perspective, they are so vital. I look forward to the time that I get to have my own family.

Next to Jesus Christ, the greatest thing that the Lord has given us is our families. The family is ordained of God and is the most important social unit in this life and in eternity. Families that are centered in Christ will allow for greater love and apprentice towards one another. Also allowing more love, peace, joy, and happiness. Happiness and love cant be at its highest without the eternal perspective. When we see that families are can have the opportunity to be sealed together through the priesthood authority of God, we get more happiness in knowing that this joy will be forever. It becomes our greatest responsibility from God to protect and value our roles as mothers and fathers more important. God is allowing us to use this divine gift to help us grow and see the beauty of what God’s love is for us. We also are given the responsibility to make sure that our children get an opportunity to learn of the plan that the father has for us. “By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible for the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners” (Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102). When it comes to families, it is an equal partnership: no one parent is responsible for all of the raising. Both parents play a part that needs to be played.

Growing up, I had a single mother. It was difficult in times. I can remember my mother having to work two jobs to make sure that everything would work out for us. This resulted in a lot of times where my mother was not there. I can remember having to be the last child picked up from the babysitter. Left wondering when she was going to be there. I can remember having to be tucked into bed by grandparents and  then being woken up in middle of the night to have my mother.  Just to say hello to us. I am very grateful for the sacrifices that she had to go through to help us out. However, having a single mother caused a void and loads of question to fester in my heart. I don’t know who my father is. I have no idea what he even looks like. Growing up, this was a hard thing to shallow. Instead of being grateful, I began to grow a hatred towards a man that I have never even met. Father’s Day became a day that I dreaded. There will always be questions that I can’t have an answer to and I am ok with that, because I understand the importance now of having two parents. I fully understand the importance of two parents in a child’s life. I may never have an earthly father but instead, I can be the father someday that I would have always wanted. More important, I have a loving Heavenly Father that wants us to live with him. So as parents, we have to rise up to the calling that the Lord has given us. Through the Savior’s Love, we can become the parents that we need to be. As we fulfill the plan that our Heavenly Father has for us, we will have the chance to have true happiness for eternity.

Tactfully Made

We don’t like trials. We never like when things get tough or hard for us. However, the tough times help shape us into the person that we are.  They allow for us to learn and grow. Heavenly Father gives us trials for our benefits. The trials that we are given are to help us become the people that we need to become. If we look at trials from an eternal perspective, we can see that the trials that we are given are to help us in what we are to become. If we look at trials as a way of becoming who we are, we can build a stronger trust for our Heavenly Father and we can make it through them with help.

God Is There

There are times where everything seems to be going wrong. That nothing works out the way that we want it to. The phrase that comes to mind is that “When it rains, its pours” and it becomes a downward cycle. Everything falls through and we just don’t know that is going on in life. However, there is someone that we can always count on. We have a loving Heavenly Father that will be there to help us through all the trials that we face in life. Even if we feel that we have no one in life to be there or that we cant count on any one, there is always someone there that will be there for us. So if at times you feel that you only have God on your side, then you are doing good. All you need is your Heavenly father to be there for you. Our Heavenly Father is the only approval we need in our life. As we turn to him, he will help us through whatever problems we have. The Lord is there to help get through the rough times.

Endurance of Love

There are times in life when we feel that the trails we are going through just never seem to end. It seems that we are just going from one thing to next and the load just never seems to loosen. At times we feel “why me?” There is just never a brake on what we are going through. However, there can be happiness to help us endure the things that we are going through. As we turn our faith to the Lord, he will help us achieve the things that we need to. The load we bare can be lightened as allow for the Savior to help us. Recently, on my mission, it has seemed to one thing after another. I just can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel as I work hard. I’ve been obedient to following the rules, I have worked diligently, and I have have put my faith and trust in the Lord. And yet, there just doesn’t seem to be success. However, I have learned to alter my view point. There are miracles happening everyday. The Savior has been hearing my prayers and I have felt his love as I pour my heart to him. The trials that we endure will make us strong people. The trials allow for our testimonies to be stronger and increase. All we need to do is Endure Through Hardships!
